Graham Stewart asks if you support road user charging, in the wake of a poll that suggests 60 per cent of us do. Plus: Is there enough good advice out there for pregnant mums?

60 per cent of the UK population believe a system of road user charging, where you pay depending on how much you use your car, is fairer than a fixed car tax. The poll, commissioned by the Institution of Civil Engineers, also discovered that 83 per cent would happily use their cars less if public transport was improved.

Plus: Is there enough good advice out there for pregnant women?

National guidelines say that "pregnant women or women trying to conceive should avoid drinking alcohol". But is that really necessary? One medic was reported in the papers the other day saying that a zero tolerance approach causes potential mums unnecessary anxiety as it stigmatises them for even drinking the odd glass of wine. Then there are headlines warning pregnant women about iron tablets and staying out of the sun.
