In a special Talking Books from Hay Festival 2016, Martha Kearney talks to Jamaican-born author Marlon James. James has written three novels including 'John Crew's Devil' and the 'The Book of Night Women', a story concerning a slave woman's revolt. His latest book �A Brief History of Seven Killings' won the Man Booker prize in 2015, it starts with an account of an assassination attempt on Bob Marley, known throughout the book as 'The Singer', and goes on to intertwine fact and fiction, documenting a violent era of political instability in Jamaican history.
