Jung Chang's autobiography Wild Swans has sold over 10 million copies worldwide but is still banned in the country of her birth, China. A critical biography of chairman Mao followed, a work involving hundreds of interviews with world-renowned figures, from the likes of George Bush to the Dalai Lama. Her latest work is a biography of the Empress Dowager Cixi who unofficially controlled the Qing Dynasty in China for 47 years until 1908.
