The second of two programmes from the world’s biggest record fair held in the Netherlands. Described as The Greatest Vinyl Show on Earth, this biannual event, hosted by Record Planet in Den Bosch, features more than 500 stalls across 16,000 square metres – that's the size of two football pitches! It’s a place where people meet, connect and share their love and passion for music and vinyl.
Grant meets traders and visitors from over 30 different countries, selecting the programme's playlist from the hundreds of thousands of records that are on sale in front of him. He also has a few challenges set by fellow BBC Radio Scotland presenters and attempts to find their requests in the crates, Including some orange vinyl for Nicola Meighan, a classic reggae single for Phoebe I-H, a rare Northern soul record for Bryan Burnett and a disco classic for Fiona Stalker.
Grant talks to collector Marc Janssen who showcases every album sleeve released on Stax Records, Journalist Jan Vollaard launches his book El Pea which celebrates the art of the compilation album. Grant attends an auction where a copy of The Beatles White Album sells for £8,000, and discusses collecting and the value of vinyl with Daryl Easlea, editor of The Rare Record Price Guide. Show less
