Facing Obstacles

Duration: 29 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two EnglandLatest broadcast: on BBC One Wales HD

Available for 2 months

Eryri’s beautiful and varied landscape is like no other, but it’s also a place that holds hidden dangers that can push the rescue teams to the limit.

When a walker slips down a very steep bank in south Eryri, he is stranded in dense forest, too far from the road for an ambulance to reach. A mountain rescue team is dispatched, but discover that following the coordinates to his location takes them to the wrong side of a fast-flowing river. With the clock ticking, they must retrace their steps to reach him.

A man is stuck on Y Grib Bigog, one of the main routes up Glyder Fach. He is suffering with anxiety after a bank of fog suddenly descended on the ridge, and is too frightened to move. The mountain rescue team party head out to the casualty’s last known location, but the foggy conditions are making it even harder to find him.

The mountain rescue team discover that old-fashioned communication and teamwork is sometimes more effective than high-tech solutions when they try to find a woman who is lost on Tryfan.
