Huw and Jane’s retirement is on hold. They hoped to tour the UK in their campervan, but their road trip plans hit a roadblock when Huw’s dad passed away. Not long after, Jane’s mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and needed round-the-clock care. The objects Huw and Jane inherited have ended up in their Banbury home, filled the garage and are inundating their beloved campervan too. The couple are overwhelmed with the items crowding their house.
Now is the time to sell, with proceeds split between funding the care for Jane’s mother and filling the campervan with fuel for a retirement adventure. Auctioneer Christina Trevanion sets about emptying the campervan of clutter and finds a box of long-forgotten jewellery. If she can crack the secret code on a brooch, she could unlock its hidden value. Christina recruits Huw, who turns detective to decipher the hallmarks on a pair of candlesticks. A hunt through the loft reveals collectibles from a bygone age. A badly damaged washstand sees restorer Robin Johnson call in the cavalry to buff up some marble. And, as Robin rummages in the back of the garage, he uncovers a huge sign that will be worth hundreds at auction, so long as he can restore it to a saleable condition.
A palace venue for the auction feels fitting for the regal finds and draws a crowd despite the distinctly British weather. With their retirement road trip on the line, will Jane and Huw reign supreme? Show less
