An Antique Love Story

Duration: 43 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One LondonLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland HD

Available for 6 months

It was love at first sight when Toni went on a first date at an antiques fair. She met the man who would become her husband of 38 years. Together, they built a happy home and a huge collection of antiques and retro tech. However, Toni spent the last decade caring for her husband before he tragically passed away. Now, she has reached the difficult decision to thin out the collection she once shared with her husband by selling it at auction. She intends to use the proceeds raised to treat herself to a holiday – her first in 13 years.

Auctioneer Izzie Balmer travels to Merseyside and ends up going on a journey back in time as she uncovers carefully curated items from a bygone age, from vintage cameras and computer games to old train sets and telephones. One drawer contains once-loved watches that could be worth a significant sum if Toni is willing to part with them. Will her feelings take over?

An oak occasional table gets restorer JJ Chalmers excited, but a nasty chip on its edge calls for drastic action and a huge saw. He also uses a
hairdryer and a lot of patience to fix an old pinball machine. JJ must seek refuge in the van when a storm hits Merseyside – are his restoration projects at risk of ruin?

The auction proves to be rich pickings for cool collectibles - a brass ship’s clock and a retro tabletop computer game go under Izzie’s gavel. Can Toni raise enough cash to get to Tenby?
