The second leg of our contest between David Harper and Hettie Jago includes a visit to the city of Glasgow, followed by the road south through the Scottish Borders. Dealer David, from Northumbria, is a classic car fan who’s thrilled to be behind the wheel of their Mercedes 280 SL convertible.

While Hettie scoops up an enamel necklace, vintage pens and a Japanese censor, David trusts his instincts, buying a dusty pair of Victorian portraits and a majolica wine holder.
