Antiques Road Trip

Series 27

Secret doors and time travel

Duration: 43 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One HDLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland

Available for 22 days

It’s the penultimate promenade for our purchasing pair, Irita Marriott and Raj Bisram. Today, they hit The Fens in search of treasure, ticking off five counties in their trusty Vanden Plas Princess. As the competition gets down to the pointy end, they’ve got their business heads on, but they still can’t resist some shenanigans on the way.

At the shops, Raj falls in love with the oldest thing he’s ever found on the road trip, even if he can’t pronounce what’s written on the ticket. Irita discovers a secret door barred to the general public, behind which are long-forgotten and very dusty treasures. Then, between them, they rustle up everything they need for a spot of afternoon tea.

Despite their packed schedule, Irita finds the time to visit an organisation dedicated to the pursuit of horology - the study and practice of clock and watch making – and uncovers the 500-year history of timepieces. But she’ll need a keen eye and a steady hand to put one back together herself. Show less
