In this new series, singer Bláithín Mhic Cana speaks to four young traditional singers from all corners of Ireland about their musical journey. In this episode, she speaks to Domhnall Ó Braonáin, a Connemara man who won the prestigious Corn na bhFear at Oireachtas na Samhna 2022. We hear about his youth growing up on the west coast of Ireland, about his rich musical heritage which has been handed down through the generations from his grandfather Máirtín Pheaits Ó Cualáin and his mother Caitlín Ní Chualáin, who won Corn Uí Riada.
