Stiofán Ó Díreáin introduces them to Francis Joseph Biggar, a key player in Belfast’s Irish language revival and a founder of ‘Feis na nGlinntí’. Robert McMillen talks through the history of the city’s newspapers and how they came mainly to be based in the Library Quarter. Professor Fionntán de Brún shares his research on the Fadgies, a group of Irish speakers from Omeath who settled in Belfast in the late 19th Century. Jack Mac Íomháir gives us a flavour of the music scene in the Smithfield & Union Quarter and Conor Torbitt explains that the city’s unofficial LGBTQ Quarter is to be found there too.
