One of the most exciting nights at Celtic Connections when six young musicians compete for this prestigious award - BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2023. Presenting the programme is Joy Dunlop, live from the City Halls in Glasgow.

The competition started in 2001 and it’s been evident each year that the previous winners have all been extremely talented. Six young musicians will compete again this year, including Aidan Moodie, Singer (Orkney), Ailis Sutherland, Piper (Kirriemuir, Angus), Gaelic singer Mairi McGillivray (Islay), Sam Mabbett, Accordion (Oxfordshire) Madeleine Stewart, Fiddle (New England) and pianist Amy Laurenson (Shetland).
