Bettany Hughes concludes her travels in Turkey by exploring Urfa, one of the most important pilgrimage cities in the Middle East, believed to be the birthplace of Abraham. Travelling by boat on the Euphrates, Bettany discovers Zeugma, an ancient Roman frontier city submerged in the river. She discovers exquisite glass mosaics recovered by archaeologists and gets special access to The House of the Muses, comprising extraordinary frescoes, mosaics and secret graffiti. Finally, Bettany hikes up to Mount Nemrut, the highest open-air museum in the world, finding a giant 2000-year-old mausoleum built for King Antiochus I. Show less
