Rugby League: Challenge Cup

2022

Final: Wigan Warriors v Huddersfield Giants

Duration: 3 hours, 39 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One LondonLatest broadcast: on BBC One Wales

Live coverage of rugby league’s showpiece final as record 19-time winners Wigan Warriors face Huddersfield Giants, who are seeking to lift the trophy for the first time in 69 years.

Mark Chapman introduces the action from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with match commentary by Dave Woods.

Matty Peet’s Wigan side withstood a remarkable second-half fightback from holders St Helens to reach their first Challenge Cup final for five years. Opponents Huddersfield are in their first final since 2009, and they won the last of their six titles in this competition back in 1953. However, it’s a second final in three seasons for Giants head coach Ian Watson, whose unfancied Salford Red Devils lost by a solitary point to Leeds behind closed doors at Wembley in 2020. Show less
