Were the Vikings Really That Bad?

Duration: 29 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Radio UlsterLatest broadcast: on BBC Radio Foyle

Available for over a year

Tim McGarry, a 6ft 4 comedian, joins vertically challenged Orangeman and historian Dr David Hume to look at a number of fascinating historical incidents and people in Irish history. The unlikely duo investigates well-known historical events from different perspectives, to give the listener the long and the short of it.

In this first episode of the series, they examine the Vikings and ask if they were just another set of invaders wanting to exploit Ireland or if they got a bad press. They debate with historians Dr Patrick Gleeson, Dr Triona Sorensen and Dr Greer Ramsey. Show less
