Ramsay MacMahon is again in search of adventure at the weekends and for him the possibilities are endless in Scotland. He explores Argyll by bike, starting his journey at the Crinan basin. It’s here that the famous Crinan canal, the UK’s most beautiful shortcut, empties into the Sound of Jura. Ramsay helps out at the boatyard before following the canal by bike.

Turning off the canal he heads to Knapdale to find out about Argyll’s newest arrivals - beavers. Once extinct, these river-dwellers are now thriving again and Ramsay visits one of their lodges with an expert.

From the canal, it’s inland to Kilmartin Glen where Ramsay visits the ancient fortress of Dunadd before heading to the finish line at the ancient burial cairns further up the glen. Nowhere else in Scotland is said to have such a concentration of Neolithic remains.

Tha sùil a-mach ag Ramsay MacMahon an còmhnaidh airson cur-seachadan ùra inntinneach aig an deireadh-sheachdain – agus abair gu bheil roghainn roimhe an Alba.

An-diugh gabhaidh e tro Earra-ghàidheal air a bhaidhseagal, a’ tòiseachadh aig beul Chanal Chrìonain. Seo far a bheil an canal, neo an geàrr-chuairt is bòidhche am Breatainn mar a th’ aca air, a’ ruigheachd Caolas Dhiùraidh. Tha Ramsay a’ dèanamh car no dhà dhaibh-san aig a bheil an gàrradh bhàtaichean a sin, mus lean e an canal dhan ear.

Tha e a’ tionndadh sìos gu Cnapadal a’ choimhead na h-imrichean ùra, na bìobharan. Thèid Ramsay a’ choimhead fear dhe na loidsichean aca cuide ri eòlaiche.

On chanal tha e gabhail a-null gu Gleann Chille Mhàrtainn, a’ tadhal air seann daingneach Dùn Athad, mus tig e gu na càirn adhlacaidh. Tha e ri ràdh nach eil làraich aosda bho Linn Ùr na Cloiche cho pailt an àite sa bith eile an Alba.
