Finding My Family

Duration: 29 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One LondonLatest broadcast: on BBC One North West HD

The story of Leah, a young woman from Manchester who made the news in 1994 when she was abandoned as a newborn baby in a hospital toilet. Now, with the help of her film-maker cousin, she is determined to search for answers.

It has been 26 years since Leah was discovered, just a few hours old, on top of a toilet cistern. No-one knows how she got there, and despite an extensive police investigation, her birth mother has never been traced. Now Leah is a mother herself, and she is more determined than ever to find out what happened. Her adoptive cousin Carla thinks online DNA databases could hold clues, so Leah takes a test while Carla begins to document the journey.

Filmed over three years, it's an emotional journey that uncovers painful truths and takes the cousins hundreds of miles from home. Will they solve this 26-year-old mystery, and will searching for her birth family finally give Leah the closure she needs? Show less
