Charley Pride, who died in December 2020 at the age of 86, was a regular visitor to the UK and Ireland, in a career which spanned more than 50 years. With 29 Country numbers ones including his signature song ‘ Kiss an Angel Good morning Charley Pride was the first African American artist to have success in Country music, and remained a huge inspiration to contemporary singers, picking up a lifetime achievement award at the 2020 CMA awards, a performance which turned out to be his last.
