Carol continues her journey in Rhyl, the town where she spent her schooldays that proved to be a springboard to life at university and beyond. It was thanks to the inspiring teachers and positive influences in her life that Carol found her passion for numbers, so she heads out to discover some of the region’s modern-day mentors.
She meets karate kid and young carer Bethan Owen, who started her affordable martial arts school aged 12 to give kids with a tough home life an outlet, takes a turn at harness-racing with one of North Wales’s youngest drivers and reunites with her beloved stepfamily for an Italian feast in honour of the man she called Dad growing up.
This leg of her trip ends with a hair-raising ride on the world’s fastest zipline as part of a very 21st century school science lesson. Show less
