Every footballer’s dream is to represent their country on the world stage in a major tournament. Chris Coleman never realised that ambition as a player, but the opportunity came his way again, this time as manager of Wales. He took over in tragic circumstances and got off to a difficult start. Against the odds, he turned things around and eventually took Wales to their first major championship for decades, Euro 2016 in France. He and the team returned to a hero’s welcome.
In the first in a new series, Bethan Rhys Roberts explores leadership and tries to understand what makes or breaks a leader. She meets those who have experience of leading at the very top, and her guest in this programme is Chris Coleman.
