Anns a’ chiad phrògram de sreath ùr tha Ruairidh MacÌomhair a’ faighneachd ciamar a bu chòir eachdraidh agus dìleab na tràilleachd a bhith air a chomharrachadh sa Ghàidhealtachd? Sin ceist a tha air faighneachd às ùr às dèidh iomairtean Black Lives Matter am bliadhna, a tha mar-thà air deasbad mòr – agus gnìomhan dìreach - a bhrosnachadh air feadh an t-saoghail gus an dìleab sin a làimhseachadh.

Tha sgeulachdan Ghàidheil a bha thall is a chunnaic, agus a rinn prothaid agus beartas a-mach à gnìomhachas olc, a’ tighinn am follais.
Bidh Eòrpa a’ bruidhinn ris an luchd-iomairt a tha a’ putadh an deasbaid air adhart agus na diofar bhuidhnean a tha a’ lorg slighe ùr san latha an-diugh gus dèiligeadh ri àite na Gàidhealtachd san eachdraidh seo.

In the first programme of a new series, Ruairidh MacIver asks how the history and legacy of slavery should be marked in the Highlands. This question has been asked once again in the light of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has already generated intense debate and direct action across the world, in an attempt to get wider acknowledgement of this history.

The stories of Highlanders who profited from colonial slavery are coming to light. Eòrpa speaks to camapigners who are seeking to advance this debate and to public bodies who are seeking to reassess the Highlands’ place in this history.
