Tiree is the most westerly island in the Inner Hebrides. It is approximately 12 miles long and five miles wide and has a population of around 650. Surrounded by sandy beaches and with an abundance of birds and wildlife, it’s a popular destination for summer visitors. Its exposed location on the Atlantic also makes it a favourite place for windsurfers and the Tiree Wave Classic - the longest-running professsional windsurfing event in the world - is held on the island every autumn.

Filmed over a six-month period in 2019, the series follows the stories of Tiristich (Tiree islanders) as we find out what it’s like to live and work on the island.

In this episode, it’s sheep-shearing time for father and son Alastair and Iain Macinnes, annual music tuition festival the Tiree Fèis is held on the island, the weather is perfect for paddleboarding, and it’s a busy day for new crofter Rhoda Meek. Show less
