Up in Wallaby Walkthrough, the keepers are being outwitted by the collection of red-necked wallabies. Recently, they have had a new enclosure built with supposedly wallaby-proof fencing to stop them escaping. However, every morning when the keepers come in, they find some, if not all, of the wallabies on the wrong side of the fence. But the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, as they have been eating beech nuts that are falling from the trees. These little nuts might be a tasty treat for a wallaby but unbeknownst to them, it is doing them damage. If they eat too many, it can lead to abscesses, which ultimately could be deadly. The keepers must work to round up the wallabies and get to the bottom of how they are escaping.

Ben is with keeper Christie to check in on the ring-tailed lemurs. They might look cute and fluffy, but they can be vicious and can certainly scrap. Ben and Christie have a treat to hopefully keep them entertained and stop them from beating each other up.

Down in Animal Adventure, Jean Johansson is with keepers James and Becky, getting perhaps too close for comfort with Lucy and Lucifer, the park’s pair of beaded lizards. As Jean learns from James, these creatures have a bite so venomous it can kill, but he reassures her that that is not Lucy’s plan today.

Meanwhile up in the Rhino House, world-renowned vets have been flown in to try and kick-start the rhino breeding programme. When the park’s four southern white rhino arrived nearly two decades ago, they had high hopes for rhino calves, but it just hasn’t happened. This endangered animal was once on the brink of extinction with only 50 left in the wild, but thanks to an extensive conservation programme, there are now more than 20,000. The threat of illegal poaching remains ever-present, so captive breeding is essential. Two months after the procedure, Kate and keeper Ian check in on the rhino with a pregnancy-testing kit.
