Chan eil teagamh nach tàinig ath-bheòthachadh air litreachas Gàidhlig anns na bliadhnaichean mu dheireadh, ach gu sònraichte a thaobh Bàrdachd Ghàidhlig, air a chuideachadh leis a’ bhuaidh mhòr a bh’ aig na bàird ainmeil, Somhairle MacGill-Eain, Ruaraidh MacThòmais, Iain Mac a’ Ghobhainn, Dòmhnall MacAmhlaigh agus Deòrsa Mac Iain Dheòrsa air saoghal na bàrdachd.

Tha bàrdachd air a bhith na phàirt chudromach de bheatha a’ chraoladair, Cathy NicDhòmhnaill, bhos cuimhne leatha. Anns a’ phrògram seo, tha i a’ dèanamh sgrùdadh mionaideach air obair chuid de na bàird a tha air buaidh a thoirt oirre thairis air na bliadhnaichean, bàird a tha air sealladh ùr a thoirt air an t-saoghal anns a’ chànan màthaireil, brìoghmhor aca fhèin. Tha i a’ rannsachadh agus a’ cnuasachadh air na cuspairean mun robh iad a’ sgrìobhadh, agus air a bheil iad a’ sgrìobhadh fhathast, ’s i a’ sireadh freagairt air na dleastanasan a th’ air bàird an là an-diugh.

Tha Cathy cuideachd a’ tadhal air Fèis StAnza ann an Cill Rìmhinn, an aon fhèis ann an Alba a tha ag amas air bàrdachd a-mhàin, far a bheil ceathrar de shàr bhàird Ghàidhlig a’ taisbeanadh an cuid obrach.

There has without a doubt been a resurgence in Gaelic literature in recent years, but especially in relation to Gaelic poetry, not to mention the immense impact that well-known poets Sorley MacLean, Derick Thomson, Iain Crichton Smith, Donald MacAulay and George Campbell Hay had on the world of poetry.

Poetry has been an important part of broadcaster Cathy MacDonald’s life for as long as she can remember. She investigates the in-depth work of some of the poets that have influenced her over the years, poets who have in their mother tongue given a new perspective on the world. She researches and reflects on the subjects that they wrote about, and are still writing about, asking what role poets have in today’s society.

Cathy also visits the StAnza festival in St Andrews, the only event in Scotland that focuses solely on poetry, where four exceptional Gaelic poets exhibit their work.
