Athletics: How Dina and Kat Struck World Gold

Duration: 59 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One HDLatest broadcast: on BBC One Yorkshire

Gabby Logan looks back at last year’s World Athletics Championships and catches up with Great Britain’s gold medallists, Dina Asher-Smith and Katarina Johnson-Thompson. They reveal what life is like for an athlete in lockdown, how they train, keep motivated and focussed, and they also discuss the impact their memorable gold medals from Doha have had on them.

Dina became Britain’s first female sprint gold medallist in world championship history, while Katarina joined a list of British women’s heptathlon gold medallists that includes Jessica Ennis-Hill and Denise Lewis.

This programme looks back at how they struck gold in Doha, and also recalls fantastic performances by other global stars, including American sprint sensation Noah Lyles, home high-jump hero Mutaz Essa Barshim and Jamaica’s pocket rocket Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
