In the summer of 1947, the writer Rose Macaulay was a curiosity: an elderly Englishwoman, driving alone down the coast of Spain, in her ancient Morris Minor.
Haunted by the war, and the loss of loved ones, Rose is unable to write fiction. As she researches a book about the Mediterranean shore, Rose finds herself preoccupied with the past. And the mysterious Senor Simon is just one of the ghosts she meets on her journey.
