YolanDa Brown and her house band, the Band Jaminals, entertain an audience of children - the Band Jammers - with live music and special guests!
YolanDa gets everyone moving with Animal Bop, prompting the Band Jammers to dance quickly and then stand completely still.
Joining YolanDa in this episode is banjo player extraordinaire Rhiannon Giddens. Rhiannon shows YolanDa and the Band Jammers how a banjo is a bit like a guitar, drum and also a tambourine. One Band Jammer is invited to play a tambourine, and Rhiannon encourages him to play it fast and slow as she keeps up with the beat on the banjo and the Band Jammers and YolanDa clap along.
The Fact Jam then further explores the banjo. We learn how it is often used in folk music and has been used by pop stars like Taylor Swift!
Rhiannon then performs Hard Times Camptown Hornpipe on her banjo, before being invited by YolanDa and the Band Jammers to take part in the Big Band Jam coming up at the end of the programme.
A short film follows three Band Jammers - Marlowe, Molly and Rosie - as they learn to play the spoons.
Rhiannon Giddens then joins YolanDa and the Band Jaminals for the Big Band Jam, and they get everyone dancing with a performance of Lights in the Valley. Show less
