An t-seachdain seo, tha Sweeny a’ cur fàilte air laogh ùr air an lot. Cuideachd, is e air gluasad chun na h-ath ìre leis a’ chlòimh aige, le bhith a’ cruthachadh a’ chiad chlò Hearach aige fhèin, tha e air bhioran an clò dèante fhaighinn air ais bhon mhuilinn, is e mu thràth a’ dèanamh planaichean a reic fada is farsaing.
As dèidh dhuinn Sweeny a leantainn thairis air an dàrna bliadhna aige na chroitear làn ùine, tha am prògram mu dheireadh san t-sreath a’ toirt cothrom dha meòrachadh air mar a chaidh dha anns an dusan mìos a dh’fhalbh is e cuideachd a’ coimhead air adhart ris an àm ri teachd.
’S e bliadhna chudromach, thrang eile a th’ air a bhith ann. Thog e duais aig Duaisean Dùthchail na h-Alba ann an Dun Èideann, dh’fhosgail e bùth agus chuir e fàilte air tòrr luchd-turais, agus dh’fhalbh e a Shealtainn air turas rannsachaidh a choinneachadh ri croitearan eile. Le na h-adhartasan mòr a tha e a’ dèanamh air an lot, tha an ùidh aig Sweeny ann an croitearachd a’ dol bho neart gu neart.
This week, Sweeny welcomes a new calf to the croft. Since taking his wool production to the next level by creating his very first batch of Harris Tweed, he is excited to receive the finished product from the mill, which he plans to sell far and wide.
Having followed Sweeny over the course of his second year as a full time crofter, the final programme in the series gives him time to reflect on the last 12 months, whilst also taking a look towards the future. It has been another busy and important year. He picked up a gong at the Scottish Rural Awards in Edinburgh, he opened a shop and welcomed many tourists, and he went on a research trip to Shetland to meet other crofters. With the progress he is making, his passion for crofting is going from strength to strength.
