Garden Rescue

Series 3 (Extended Versions)

Hoveringham & Coventry

Duration: 58 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One East MidlandsLatest broadcast: on BBC One Yorks & Lincs

The team use some unusual items to rescue gardens in Hoveringham and Coventry: half an old boat in a river-view garden and a tin air-raid shelter in a music festival garden.

In Hoveringham, they create a tranquil private front garden for Emma and Steve, with a garden seat created from an old boat prow. Both busy workers, Emma and Steve have never had time to put their garden plans into place and, as a result, all they have in their garden is a load of bad soil, some garden ornaments and that chunk of a boat – in honour of the amazing views they have of the River Trent. The couple like to sit in their front garden looking at the view, but that means that they are also ‘on display’ to all the passing walkers, cyclists and car users who use the road at the bottom of their front garden. So, the challenge is how to give the couple privacy without taking away their precious river view.

Meanwhile, in Coventry, Charlie and the Rich brothers repurpose an old air-raid shed in the garden of Paul and Victoria. This young, retro-loving couple want to keep it as a nod to the city’s wartime history, incorporating it into their wish for a cool festival-inspired outdoor space. Can the team come up with funky designs that mesh air-raid shelters with rock 'n' roll themes? Show less
