First broadcast: on BBC ALBALatest broadcast: on BBC ALBA

Às dèidh iomadh latha fada air allaban, tha Vera (10) a' ruighinn dachaigh chloinne ann an Casagstan. Tha a h-uile rud coimheach agus tha a’ chlann eile cho diofraichte seach ise. Tha i aonranach agus fhathast a' fulang às dèidh bàs a pàrantan agus a bràthair. An uair a gheibh i cothrom a dhol a dh’fhuireach còmhla ri teaghlach ùr, tha farmad air a’ chloinn eile ach chan eil Vera fhèin a’ faireachdainn gu bheil e ceart.

Tha i a’ cur eòlas càirdeil air Tamara (12) agus Mischa (8) agus tha iadsan a’ sealltainn dhi nach eil ise na h-aonar; tha iad uile anns an dearbh shuidheachadh ach tha an dòigh fhèin aig a h-uile duine air dèiligeadh leis. Gun rabhadh sam bith, tha litir a' tighinn à Stalingrad, am baile anns an robh an dachaigh aig Vera.

Anns an t-siathamh earrann, tha sinn a' leantainn nighean à Stalingrad. Tha i air teicheadh às a’ bhaile sin agus air dachaigh chloinne a ruighinn ann an Casagstan. Tron Dàrna Cogadh agus air feadh an t-saoghail, dh'fheumadh na milleanan an dachaighean fhàgail.

Chuir Hitler an sàs ionnsaigh-cogaidh a bha stèidhichte air sgrios agus a bha a' toirt buaidh air an t-sluagh. An uair a chaidh daoine a ghluasad às an dùthaich, bha prìomhachas air a thoirt dhan chloinn a bha anns na sgìrean cogaidh. Bha clann dealaichte bho am pàrantan fad mhìosan, fiù ’s bliadhnaichean. Bha cuid nach fhaca a chèile gu bràth tuilleadh. Gu tric chaidh iad tro thachartasan eagallach is millteach. Chaill iad am pàrantan agus an dachaighean, dh’fhuiling iad fòirneart agus chaidh an cur às an àite air an robh iad eòlach. Tha mi-chinnt, cianalas agus dòchas a’ ceangal a h-uile duine cloinne a thèid tron a leithid.

We follow a girl from Stalingrad as she flees the city and arrives in a children's home. Millions of people worldwide were forced to leave their homes during World War II.

In the Soviet Union, most people were affected. Hitler waged a ruthless war of annihilation and the civilian population was not to be spared. In evacuations, the residents of war zones were methodically brought to safety, starting with the children. They were sent to relatives or to children's homes. The children were separated from their parents for months or even years. Some forever. Often, they had experienced terrible, traumatising events: the loss of parents, of their home, displacement and violence. All children who experience evacuation from their homes are united by feelings of uncertainty, homesickness and hope. Show less
