In 2018, while people were transfixed by the spectacular opening of V&A Dundee, the city was becoming infamous for a very different story: 72 people died from drugs that year, making Dundee the drug death capital of Europe.
With his own chequered history of drug and alcohol addiction, Darren McGarvey - aka rapper Loki - sets out to find out what is going on. His journey starts in a cemetery with Jamie, who has lost more family members than she has remaining.
Continuing on, Darren goes to meet Carol, whose daughter attacked her while high on heroin; Karen, whose brother was killed by a knife-wielding heroin addict; and Sylvia, who has been addicted to methadone for over 30 years.
As Darren dives deeper into the story facing Dundee, it becomes obvious that he is still struggling with his own addictions. As the realities begin to hit home, he finds that recovery activist and former addict Sharon just might have the answer. Show less
