Marcus Hunter-Neill is well known as the flamboyant and feisty Lady Portia Di’ Monte and has made his mark as one of Belfast’s most beloved drag queens.
But growing up in Northern Ireland in the early 90s his road to rhinestones and self-realisation was a rocky one.
As Marcus struggled throughout his childhood with dyslexia and being bullied in school, the Troubles continued across Northern Ireland, with his father Billy being closer to the conflict than a young Marcus realised.
Ten years ago, Billy nearly died. And that led Marcus to question how much he and his father really knew about each other.
In Frocks, Locks and the H-Blocks, he gives a personal insight into his childhood, his relationship with his father and a crisis that led to a surprising discovery.
This is a journey of hurt, hope, differences and the special bond between father and son. Show less
