It is the penultimate leg of BBC Two’s unrivalled travel series, that has taken viewers on a journey through the wilds of Kazakhstan to ancient villages in China. This leg sees the remaining four teams head through the dense forests and bustling metropolises of Cambodia and Vietnam, and the final checkpoint before Singapore – the island paradise of Koh Rong.
With no access to smart phones, the internet or credit cards, can our teams keep the end goal in sight and put aside any differences as they battle to reach the final checkpoint?
After racing across China, father and son Darron and Alex have a whopping 22-hour lead over their nearest rivals. But they are haemorrhaging money, and the other teams are intent on hunting them down.
With the pressure of the race mounting, cracks start to appear in business partners Josh and Felix's relationship - not helped by an unwanted stay in a local brothel. A bold move looks like they could reel in the race leaders but as the storm clouds gather over Ho Chi Min City, will their big chance be washed away?
Starting the leg 38 hours behind the leaders, husband and wife Tony and Elaine have to go for broke to get themselves back in the race but are immediately stalled by an inopportune toilet break. Meanwhile, best friends Natalie and Shameema are lured by the incredible tailors of Hoi Ann. Darron and Alex attempt to address their lack of funds by heading into the jungle to work with elephants, but will Alex be able to endure the snakes and spiders?
Everything is still to play for as the four remaining teams have just 1,875 miles left to the finish line. No-one wants to trip up at this crucial stage, so every decision counts. In this incredible adrenaline-charged race, our teams have endured challenges and hardships, relationships have been put to the test, and their journey has taken many twists and turns.
