To celebrate BBC Radio Foyle’s 40th birthday, our new series features a collection of classic moments from one of our best loved programmes – the Gerry Anderson Show.
For many years, Gerry and Sean Coyle brightened mornings across the land with their unique take on life in Northern Ireland. In between listener requests for baby chipmunks, car parts and a cure for a cow with warts on her teat, Gerry and Sean waxed lyrical on every subject under the sun – from the perils of using hatchets and ladders, to the secret of keeping love alive and the origin of the string vest.
We’ve delved into the archives to gather highlights from the 1980s onwards, taking in trips to Hollywood, Las Vegas and Ballymena. Expect the unexpected, and a few well known voices too, from Geordie Tuft to Daniel O’Donnell. You’ll also hear some of the strange and wonderful music that made the programme so different – but first and foremost, the stage is set for some of Gerry and Sean’s finest moments.
