Alan and Mel

A second special show, broadcast live from Orlando, Florida

Duration: 2 hours, 57 minutes

2018 is the 60th anniversary of the formation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA. Since 1968 the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida has been NASA's primary launch centre of human spaceflight. The first manned space mission in which humans left low Earth orbit was Apollo 8, launched 50 years ago. As well as significant dates in man's space exploration calendar, 2018 also sees a number of important movie milestones, including the 100th anniversary of the first Warner Bros. motion picture, the 90th anniversary of Universal's first all-talking film and the 90th birthday of Mickey Mouse. So, where better to commemorate all these milestones than Florida, one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, and home to both the movie theme park capital of Orlando, and the centre of space exploration Cape Canaveral.

This is the second of two special live programmes broadcast from three of the Sunshine State's most popular theme parks. Today, Alan and Mel ride the movies with The Incredible Hulk and a bunch of Marvel Superheroes, they get soaked on a cartoonish water ride, and they brave the heights of Orlando's only active volcano.

They also chat to a NASA astronaut, discover more about the highlights Florida has to offer UK tourists, and they journey to Hogwarts and taste a glass of Butter Beer.

Plus there's new movie-related music from UK singer Harriet, more Carr-Nections and Alan and Mel will continue their potted history of Hollywood.

Alan and Mel return in their regular Summer Escape slot on Saturday morning at 10am Show less
