GENERAL HIGGINS was elected General of the Salvation Army in 1929 in succession to W. Bramwell Booth. He has held many positions in evangelical and staff work since he joined the Army in 1882. He was Chief Secretary, U.S.A., for nine years, Commissioner for Field Work, Great Britain, for eight years, and Chief of Staff for the ten years prior to his election as General. He has jnsb returned from a world tour of the Sulvation Army branches.
