One airline takes off from a pebble beach in the Western Isles and offers the shortest scheduled flight in the country ...just two minutes. Another, in Suffolk, uses a grass airstrip and boasts in-flight cuisine prepared by the neighbours.
But despite the enthusiasm of the entrepreneur, why has air travel within Britain never really taken off?
