In the course of his recent travels in Eastern countries Sacheverell Sitwell saw two of the greatest and most beautiful religious buildings of the world: the Mosque of the Ommaiyades in Damascus, with its famous mosaics only recently uncovered under the plaster, and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.
