Travellers' Tales: Race Against the Ice

on BBC One London

Told by Derek Cooper.

The North Pole: nowhere else is man so completely at the mercy of the elements. For two centuries it has been the ultimate challenge for determined explorers. One man who has accepted the challenge in these arduous conditions is Bjorn Staib, who planned to do it the hard way on skis. This is the story of his race to Aries 2, a floating ice island within a few miles of the North Pole itself.
