Woman of Action

on BBC Radio 3

In 1975. P. D. James was awarded the Silver Dagger of the Crime Writers' Association: a stab in the back for those who think thrillers a gentleman's pursuit! She has always strongly believed that there can be as much ' human truth ' in crime novels as any other form of literature: she's also interested in the way music sometimes creeps into fiction. This afternoon she introduces a personal choice of records, with absolutely no murders - operatic or otherwise!
