Just before the recent war the body of a Japanese naval officer was picked up by a merchant ship in the Pacific Ocean. The diary in his breast-pocket was filled with strange hieroglyphics. Lt was handed with the rest of his effects to an American patrol vessel cruising in the vicinity. The fantastic importance the diary was to have was revealed by the events of the next few years.
