From a hospital in the penal colonies of Tasmania, Thomas Griffiths Wainewright (1794-1847), painter and writer, looks back over his controversial life. Having inherited the family home, successive legacies supported his flamboyant lifestyle, yet he was tried forforgery and three of his close relatives died in suspicious circumstances.
