The distinguished biographer Lord David Cecil visits the Hampshire village of Chawton where Jane Austen wrote some of her greatest novels, Mansfield Park , Emma and Persuasion. Despite being very fully involved in family life, Jane Austen managed to create a uniquely private world of social observation and humour.
