The Wound, which has powerful symbolic undertones, concerns two soldiers, a young private and a sergeant, after the battle has ended. As in a dream, they are making their way through a deserted countryside, and come to a derelict chateau occupied by a houseful of women; the Queen of the women invites the two soldiers to a banquet; the dream becomes a nightmare on the threshold of death.
