Performance on 3: The Silver Tassie

on BBC Radio 3

Live from the London Coliseum.

The first night of Mark-Anthony Turnage's powerful new opera The Silver Tassie.

Based on Sean O'Casey's play, it tells of a group of young men and their families during the First World War. At the centre of the story is Harry Heegan, footballing hero and darling of all the young women, whose goals help his team to win the cup - the Silver Tassie itself.
