The Hong Kong Handover: The Final Moment

on BBC One London

At midnight local time (5pm BST), a simple ceremony attended by world leaders at the New Hong Kong Convention Centre will mark the handover of the colony to China. Following this historic event, Prince Charles and Chris Patten will leave Hong Kong on the royal yacht Britannia. The programme also includes reflections on the handover and coverage of a fireworks display in Victoria Harbour.
Highlights of the day's events can be seen at 7pm.
