John Surman

on BBC Radio 3

who plays soprano and baritone saxophones and bass clarinet, has been a dominating figure in European jazz for the last 20 years.
In the first part of this concert, recorded earlier this evening at the Radio Show, Earls Court, Surman is accompanied by CHRIS LAURENCE (bass) and JOHN MARSHALL (drums).
The trio is then joined by three trumpets and four trombones to make up the BRASS project. which is conducted by JOHN WARREN. They play a group of compositions by both Surman and Warren.
The concert is introduced by Charles Fox who talks to John Surman during the interval.
