Opera on 3

on BBC Radio 3

Manon Stephanie Hughes introduces a new production from Opera North of Massenet's tale of obsessive love leading to death. Manon-young, beautiful, vivacious - is everything Des Grieux wants, and he dreams of a life spent with her.
Manon loves Des Grieux but dreams of a life filled with pleasure and glamour and is by nature frivolous, ambitious and indecisive. He only wants the girl but the girl wants to have it all. Daniel Slater 's production is conducted by Grant Llewellyn , with Swedish soprano Malin Bystrom in the title role.
