Airdrie in Lanarkshire is a town with a strong sense of community. Originally a market town, today it is linked with Coatbridge in the Monklands district, as this part of Scotland once belonged to a monastic community. Ian Gall meets
Alec and Fiona Stewart , who help to organise many of the youth activities, and Dr Marie Brookes talks about her work at the Accident
Emergency Department of the district hospital. Ian also hears about the savings bank which was begun by a local churchman 150 years ago. Tonight 18 congregations accompanied by the Monklands Youth Concert Brass have come to Airdrie West Parish Church to sing their choice of hymns.
