Although W. Ffrancon Thomas is still under forty he has completed more than a quarter of a century as an organist. He was born at St. Ann's Bethesda, near the Penrhyn slate quarries. At the age of eleven he became organist at St. Mary's Church, Douglas Hill , Bethesda, and a year later he held the same post at St. Mary's Church, Tregarth. On the death of his tutor, H. G. Brereton , in 1914, he became organist and choirmaster at St. Mary's Church, Bangor. He was appointed to Christ Church, Llanfairfechan, in 1928.
